The Virgin
Once a virgin, innocent in every way
A beast courted her with his wares
His words were full of flattery
His means were only snares.
The virgin fell under his tempting spell
Her dowry full of jewels
The beast made off with five of these
The virgin made a fool.
Trusting lass this lady listened
as he promised to right and pay
for the diamonds he had subtly stole
and those gems he gave away
The beast returned and made a date
with this virgin fine and fair
His words were still deceit and fraud
as her delicate skin he began to bare
She awoke suddenly from the state of trance
and yelled no -- no -- please no!
The beast took a club and beat her
and began to rape her so.
Beaten, raped and trodden down
the beast made the gal his slave
to end the continual beatings
she let him have his ways.
He held her down by many frauds
and made her think she was his wife
He kept stealing all her treasures
and kept her poor in strife
Until one day she discovered
that she was really free
an independent lady
was what she was meant to be
There was no marriage contract
there were no marriage vows
only smoking mirrors
Her cry ‘Let me go now!"
The beast promising her dreams and hopes
Still only full of lies
The lady left the bigamous beast
And she let Freedom fly.
Never again will she be enslaved
by any beast or man
The lady’s name is Texas
the fairest of all land.
